MUNAU 2019

Model United Nations Conference of Augsburg, Seventh Session, Maria-Ward-Gymnasium Augsburg

“We should be different.
We are the next generation of delegates, the next generation of leaders.
MUN is about finding out what you believe in and what you want to fight for.
It is about wanting to change the world. /…/
It is making us aware of the importance of global communication and of worldwide solutions for worldwide problems.
This is why we have chosen topics like ‘Policies and Programs Involving Youth’, ‘Energy
Security’ as well as ’Water Security’ for this year’s MUNAU conference.”*

From January 31, 2019, to February 2, 2019, delegates from sixteen schools from seven countries were debating current UN topics and tried to find innovative but feasible solutions.

“We need to change.
The first type of change we want to talk about is the daily change in our lives. Heraclitus once said: ‘No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.’ This refers to the little things that influence us every single day, the change within us.
The second type of change is the one that needs a lot of hard work. It is the change in societies, politics and the world, the change described by Barack Obama:
‘Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.’”*
